This website is based on our project which we are completing this year for the One Good Idea Competition. It is based on trees and how they affect climate change. Our target audience is students both in primary and secondary school.

Our website caters for both of these audiences as we have detailed information on the \”Info on Trees\” and \”Climate Change\” pages for secondary school students and we have games and educational links suitable for primary school students on the \”Funstuff & Links\” page. We have a blog to update website viewers on what we’re doing. We have also included information on the One Good Idea Competition in general, as well as the Junior Spiders Competition (in our blog) and on what we are doing for our project.

To make our website clear and easy to use we made sure all the menu names, category names, headings and sub-headings we used were unambiguous and consistent. We tried to make information as easy to find as possible so we often linked to relevant information on a different page.

On long pages we added a contents sidebar so that the user can jump easily to different sections. We used a non-cramped design with lots of white-space to make it appeal to the viewer. We used a lot of contrast to make it easy to read, which is particularly important on a website like ours which is content-heavy.

We designed our own logo and we took the photos to go above the menu. We used games as an innovative way to teach students about a topic they may not otherwise be interested be in; trees and climate change.
