We searched for and eventually found a suitable Wordpress theme to use for the blog. A group of transition year students was assembled to manage and develop the site. One of the students does photography and uses Photoshop extensively. He was therefore able to train other students in photography and image editing which is the basis of every post on the blog.
It was important to design the site navigation around how we intended to present student work. We used wordpress categories and tags to apply a simple easy to navigate structure to our site.
Posting an image can be a bit time consuming and requires some skill in photography, image editing and wordpress. We found however that Transition year students enjoy the work and manage it very successfully. We also found that students love to see their art on the blog.
Recently students wanted to post video but the theme does not accommodate this in a way we like. This means the site will need to develop and evolve but we know everybody likes it and it can only get even better.
